Notes de curation
- Croisement du canon jamaïcain (Scaruffi, les essentiels Matador et Songlines, le chart dub de RateYourMusic), des rétrospectives On-U Sound et Ariwa, et de la presse de la scène française — Culture Dub, Musical Echoes, Reggae France — 1973–2023.
- La forme de la sélection est une thèse : la Jamaïque a inventé le dub, l'Angleterre l'a industrialisé, la France est le pays où il est resté une pratique de scène vivante. D'où le Royaume-Uni à 35, la France à 30 et la Jamaïque à 26 — les fondateurs ne sont volontairement pas majoritaires.
- Trois albums maximum par artiste en leader, les collaborations comptées à part, avec une exception assumée : Scientist en a quatre, parce que la série Greensleeves 1980-82 est le genre lui-même.
- Le dub techno n'est ouvert que de trois entrées — Rhythm & Sound deux fois et Pole, déjà rangé dans les 100 de la Techno. Une porte entrebâillée s'il mérite un jour son propre top, comme le deathcore sous le metal.
- Pas de reggae chanté déguisé. Super Ape passe malgré ses voix parce que toutes les références le rangent ici ; Garvey's Ghost et les Congos restent au rayon Reggae. L'album riddim de Dreadsquad a été écarté pour exactement cette raison.
- Écartés, ou retenus par un autre rayon : Dub Inc et Danakil (reggae chanté), Ez3kiel (trip-hop), Burial et Digital Mystikz (dubstep, un top possible à part), Basic Channel au-delà de Pole et Rhythm & Sound.
