Curation notes
- Crossed from the RateYourMusic drum and bass, neurofunk, techstep and liquid charts, Drum and Bass UK's chronological retrospective, Album of the Year, the Fact and DJ Mag lists, and the jungle revival coverage in Grammy and Clash, 1994–2024.
- The nineties canon is thinner than it should be, and that is structural: Dillinja, Doc Scott, Andy C, DJ Zinc and Origin Unknown defined the genre on 12-inch singles, not albums. The 2010s dominate because that is when drum & bass became an album music, driven by Hospital, Shogun and Critical.
- No compilations or DJ mixes, the same rule as every shelf — and it costs dearly here. LTJ Bukem's Logical Progression, often named alongside Timeless as the decade's most important release, and dBridge & Instra:mental's FabricLive.50, which launched Autonomic, are both out. Bukem stands here with Journey Inwards, his own album; dBridge with The Gemini Principle.
- Liquid is the largest scene at twenty entries, simply because it embraced the album format hardest; jungle sits at fifteen for the reason above.
- At most three albums per artist (Squarepusher and London Elektricity are at the cap), two elsewhere. Goldie appears three times if you count Rufige Kru — a different project, kept as such.
- Narrowly missed: Total Science, Teebee, Klute’s Lie Cheat & Steal, Hybrid Minds, LSB, Paradox and the whole drumfunk school (few albums), DJ Marky and the Brazilian scene (singles and mixes above all).
